The Ski Amade winter sports area is primarily Salzburg's major ski destination, incorporating 5 main regions and including the Dachstein Glacier, which offers an extended season. Colder and more easterly than some Austrian ski areas, there tends to be more, longer lasting snow here. Cross country skiing is also very popular as well as traditional downhill on and off-piste skiing. The entire area is available on one ski pass. In the summer, the area is a paradise for walkers and hikers.
The area is also sometimes known as Salzburger Sportswelt, although this is only part of the larger Ski Amade area, which also includes the Gastein Valley, the Grossarl Valley and Hochkoning. Parts of the Styria region also extend into Ski Amade, although for the purposes of this site, they are not included here.
Accommodation to rent in Ski Amade is everything you might expect from an established ski area - luxury catered chalets, self-catering chalets and chalet-style ski apartments. There is also a wide choice of hotels to suit every budget, so there is a great choice of places to stay in the area.
