The properties below should provide you with a residential riding holiday. Some of them may also provide stabling for your own horse or pony. Your accommodation will usually be located within the equestrian centre although it may be off-site. The individual adverts should tell you more in detail and you should check your exact requirements with the owner or manager. In general, these properties should not just be near a riding centre but should be providing an actual riding experience. If your requirement is just to have access to some riding at times, then please go to our Advanced Search and check the Horse Riding box there.

Tyrol (or Tirol) is a state in the est of Austria, physically split into two parts by the state of Salzburg. Largely surrounded by other countries, Tyrol has borders with Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

The Tyrol conjures up something quintessentially Austrian in the minds of most people - picturesque villages with women dancing folk dances in pretty, demure, embroidered skirts and white lace blouses; rolling green hills; men in embroidered knee-length breeches, blowing on alpine horns.

Some of this is, of course, true and Tyrol is indeed pretty as a picture, a great place for hiking and climbing and just being in the fresh air amidst amazing landscapes. The spectacularly mountainous Hohe Tauern National Park also extends into this area.

The biggest attraction is, however, the skiing and Innsbruck, surrounded by 6 major resorts, is not just the capital of Tyrol, but the capital of winter sports too. Choose from stylish, up-market Kitzbuhel and popular resorts such as St Anton, but it's worth spending some time looking at Innsbruck itself, a lively, friendly university town with a quaint medieval centre, and one-time venue for the Winter Olympics.

As for accommodation, many places to rent here are chalets or apartments within chalets or chalet style blocks. Some of these will be catered and some self-catering. City apartments to let can be found in Innsbruck.
