These properties are generally situated in ski resorts or winter sports resorts, close to ski lifts and slopes or on direct transportation routes to ski lifts or slopes. They may be catered ski chalets or self-catering chalets or ski apartments. In some areas, accommodation tends to be in small locally run hotels and guesthouses, or in ski lodges. Usually, the rentals in this section are very close to all skiing facilities although this can vary from location to location depending on what the norm is, so you should check all details with the owner or manager.
The Caribbean, as we have it defined, comprises the islands of Burmuda, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Atlantic, plus the Caribbean islands of the West Indies also known as the Antillies. We do not include the countries of Central and South America which border the Caribbean.
While each island has its own characteristics, one thing they share in common is year round sunshine making them an ideal destination to either escape from the cold of winter or as a laid back summer destination.

As all islands have in the past been colonised, a good place to start is to identify the European colonising nation as this tends to influence the language and culture of of the island. Where there are direct flights from European countries, it is also a pointer in identifying from which countries flights are most liley to originate.
The islands can broadly by categorised as either British, French, Dutch or Spanish/Portuguese influenced.
British - Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Grenada and Carriacou, Jamaica,Montserrat, Nevis, St Kitts, St Lucia,St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tobago, Trinidad, Turks & Caicos Islands, US Virgin Islands.
French - St Barths, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St Martin.
Dutch - Bonaire, St Maarten, Saba, St Eustatius, Aruba, Curacao.
Spanish/Portuguese - Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic,
If it's the archetypal white sand beach holiday you are looking for, then Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, Aruba, Jamacia, St Martin/St Maarten are good places to start looking.
If you intend to travel inland and are looking for lush vegetation and natural beauty then Jamaica, Guadeloupe, Grenada, Puerto Rico, St Lucia and Tobago are a good starting point.
If you are looking for an upmarket exclusive holiday then Anguilla, Bermuda, Grenada, St Barts or the Us Virgin Islands may be worth considering.
If you refer less a less developed island then Cuba, Curaco, Dominca, Grenada, Nevis, Puerto Rico, St Kitts and Tobago may be worth a look.
If history, architecture and museums are part of you agenda then the larger islands such as Cuba, Jamacia, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic are worth considering.
For night life the Cuba, Jamacia, Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbados good places to start looking.
Those islands with direct flights from Europe are: Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique, St Lucia, St Martin/St Maarten and the Turks & Caicos Islands. Other islands are either accessed from neighbouring islands or from the US.
