These properties provide golfing holidays for serious golfers. Normally this will mean that they are not just near a golf course, but that they are either situated on a golf course or within a golf resort, or that they are within easy driving distance of 5 or more championship courses. Sometimes the owners or managers will pre-book tee times for you. The individual adverts should tell you more in detail and you should check your exact requirements with the owner or manager. If your requirements are just to be near a course for some casual golf, then you should go to our Advanced Search and check the Golf box there.
Aude is a department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of South West France. It is bordered in the East by the Mediterranean, in the South and North by the mountainous regions of the Pyrenees and Montagne Noire respectively ,and stretches to Castlenaudry in the West.
The climate is mediterranean with hot dry summers, rainy winters and pleasant spring and Autumn days with lots of warm sunshine interspersed in the early spring with some cloudy cooler rainy days.
Outside the Mediterranean area and the capital city of Carcassonne, the Aude could be described as fairly undiscovered and less commercialised than most tourist areas. The landscape of the interior is an agricultrual wine growing region broken up by mountainous regions where you will find many examples of its history dating back as far as Roman times.
Of particular interest is the history of the Cathars, a religious sect that occupied the area from the 11th centry until their eradication by a Catholic crusade of the 13th century. For more information about the Cathars visit

As a coastal department, Aude has its fair share of luxury villas, apartments and bungalows to hire, often with pools. However, there are also some lovely rural properties not far inland - cottages, stone farmhouses, converted watermills and, naturally, gites. There are also chateaus and mansions in the area, not to mention boutique b&bs or chambres d'hotes.
