These properties provide golfing holidays for serious golfers. Normally this will mean that they are not just near a golf course, but that they are either situated on a golf course or within a golf resort, or that they are within easy driving distance of 5 or more championship courses. Sometimes the owners or managers will pre-book tee times for you. The individual adverts should tell you more in detail and you should check your exact requirements with the owner or manager. If your requirements are just to be near a course for some casual golf, then you should go to our Advanced Search and check the Golf box there.

Hungary is located in the east of central Europe, bordered by Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Its official language is Hungarian (surprisingly related to Finnish). The official currency is the Hungarian Forint. Once one of Europe's greatest powers, Hungary eventually became part of the Soviet Bloc (like many of its neighbours), which it left in 1989. Since then its economy has accelerated and it is now relatively developed.

Much of the Hungarian landscape is dominated by low, rolling plains, but Transdanubia is hilly and the Carpathian mountains stretch along the border with Slovakia in the north. Like Austria, the country is bisected by the Danube, on the banks of which stand the capital Budapest. Hungary has hot summers and fairly cold winters.

Hungarian cuisine typically uses alot of paprika and sour cream (goulash is a prime example). Dishes are often stew-like, rich and full of flavour.

Places to stay in Hungary range from stylish and traditional apartments in Budapest to rural cottages in the heart of the Hungarian countryside.
