Castile and Leon is a large land-locked region in north-central Spain. Having a massive border, its neighbours include many other Spanish territories, plus Portugal to the west. The landscape here is dominated by the Meseta Central, a massive plateau, although there are also mountains around the region's borders. The region is intersected by great rivers, such as the Douro, which flows on into Portugal. This is a dry area, with hot summers and cold winters.

Castile and Leon is a highly historic region and the cities of Salamanca and Leon with their cathedrals, Segovia with its magnificent aqueduct and fairytale castle, and the walls ciy of Avila are well worth a visit. This is also an area of great natural beauty.

Unsurprisingly this is not a land of villas and apartments, with places to stay tending to be rural cottages, country houses, farmhouses and rustic stone buildings. There are houses big enough to accommodate large groups should you need to rent for a big party. In the region's historic cities and towns, there are plenty of apartments to let.
