The twin resorts of Alcossebre/Las Fuentes have become one of our favourite destinations. Without question, the atmosphere is distinctly Spanish and life moves along at an easy pace - in fact out of the bustling summer season (June - September), we call it 'the great unwinder'. For those seeking the good things in life - great restaurants, wonderful scenery, superb and clean beaches, this is the place to be. 
Alcossebre's position within an area of conservation means that development in the resort has been strictly controlled - no high rise hotel eyesores - just very tastefully designed private apartment complexes and villas. An hour's drive from Valencia, 90 minutes from Reus Airport and over two hours from Barcelona means that whilst still very accessible, it has an air of exclusivity that is quite rare to find in Spain today. For those who prefer to experience the real Spain - well, it's right on your doorstep. This is the Orange Blossom Coast of Valencia, home of the finest oranges in the world. Come early in the year to enjoy the wonderful colours and scents as the blossom is at its finest. 
If you can resist the temptation to just 'chill' in this delightful resort there is an unspoilt Spain waiting to be discovered. Mountains and valleys, ancient villages and monuments, spectacular beaches and great cities such as Valencia and Castellon are all just a 'day out' from Alcossebre. 
The coast of the province of Castellón, the most northernly in the region of Valencia, is called the Costa del Azahar, meaning orange-blossom coast. The mountains climbing back from the beaches make it an attractive area, if overdeveloped in parts. Unspoilt beaches can be found, though, and the nature reserve on the Columbretes Islands is an inviting option. 
The Alcossebre area offers plenty to do and caters for a very wide range of interests. You could simply take a stroll along one of five excellent blue-flag beaches or get energetic and play volleyball, tennis or bowls. For those who like to get wet whilst on holiday, in season, there are plenty of attractive little paddleboats and windsurfers for hire and for the more adventurous, there are jet skis and scuba diving. 
Within a 30-minute drive we have two excellent golf courses. There is also plenty of cycling and horse riding available nearby - relaxing ways to get to know the beautiful, unspoilt local area. 
Its weather is typically mediterranean, with warm summers and smooth winters,the rainfalls are scarce and concentrate during spring and autumn seasons. 
The national road N-340 goes by Alcalà de Xivert and the motorway A-7 (exit 44 Torreblanca-alcossebre, and exit 43 Benicarló-Peñíscola). There is also a railway station in the Barcelona-Valencia line. 
Car hire is recommended to explore this beautiful and unspoilt coastline. Visit Peniscola (15 min drive) a picturesque old town with castle overlooking the town and sea. Visit Morella (1 hour drive) a medieval town perched high up in the mountains. Visit Aquarama Water Park in Benicassim, 30 mins away for a wet and wild day. Universal Studio's Port Aventura, one of Europe's biggest theme parks is 1 hours drive away with Costa Caribe,another water park.
