*** You will arrive on Arran at Lochranza, at the north end or Brodick on the east coast. Head south through Lamlash and Whiting Bay, and at the high point on the road, prior to the turnoff to Kildonan, you will find Burnside House.
There are eating places and pubs in nearby Whiting Bay and Kildonan, while further afield, you will find excellent hostelries at Lagg, Blackwaterfoot, Pirnmill, Catacol, Lochranza, Sannox, Corrie, Brodick and Lamlash.
The island has a circumference of 56 miles, so almost everywhere is within reasonable travelling distance. Our local newspapers (the Arran Banner and Arran Voice) give notice of the constantly changing social and entertainment scene on the island, but every day you can visit the National Trust's gem, Brodick Castle and Gardens.
Holy Isle, with its Buddhist Retreat, is a popular trip, particularly for bird watchers and people anxious to share the tranquillity of a special place.
Balmichael Centre has activities and interest for everyone, young and old.
Auchrannie Spa has indoor leisure facilities second to none.
For most of our visitors, the great outdoors is the main event - the shoreline, the hills and mountain ridges, the paths for walking or riding, the magnificent flora and fauna, and last, but certainly not least, the 7 golf courses at Brodick, Lamlash, Whiting Bay, Shiskine, Machrie, Lochranza, and Corrie.
