*** The cottage is situated 15 minutes drive from Canillas de Aceituno,not far from Velez-Malaga, in rural Andalucia.To the north side we have Maroma, a national park rising to 2060m, where deer, wild boar, and ibex roam freely. Overhead you may see vultures and eagles, and at night hear the various owls. 
 
Nestled on a quiet hillside amongst cultivated olives and vines, you can watch the locals working the land, sometimes with mules. 
At an altitude of 460m. you can see for more than 20 miles, and on a clear evening you may see the Atlas mountains on the north coast of Africa.  
 
However, a short drive takes you into the white village, with many small shops, bars , and restaurants.The open air swimming pool opens in June until September, with a cafe and grassed area to laze on. Summer evenings sees the occassional live music session.  
Call into the tourist information office for the dates of local fiestas, and join in the festivities. 
 
Try out the local cuisine, it can be amazingly good value with a bottle of lovely house wine to enjoy too.
