The village is in the valcobado valley on the edge of the Tuerces National Park and surrounded by the stunning Valcobado Escarpment. The historical roman town of Aguilar De Campoo is 8kms from the village and has plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, a 24h health clinic and is well served by bus and rail links to Santander, Burgos and Palencia. The town sits on the banks of the beautiful Pisuerga river and is just 2kms from the Aguilar lake. Within just a few minutes drive from the village is the Tuerces National Park and among other attractions are the Cuevas De Los Franceses, the impressive Pisuerga Canyon and the Covalagua waterfall, the Valcobado Mirador, the Pozo De Los Lobos and the mysterious Canto Hito monument. 30kms north brings you to the foot of the Palentina mountains and the historical town of Reinosa which sits on the banks of the mighty Ebro lake. The village of Fontibre is just a few kms from Reinosa and this is where the Ebro river is born from the underground spring. Well worth a visit. Within 10kms of Reinosa can be found the Nestares Golf Course and the Alto Campoo ski resort. 80kms south east of the village is the city of Burgos, one of Spain's most beautiful and historical cities. 100kms south is the provincial city of Palencia and the Canal De Castilla, originally built by the romans and still in use today, runs from Alar Del Rey all the way to Palencia. This area is fantastic for cycling/mountain biking, hiking/walking, hill climbing, horse riding, fishing and many other outdoor activities. It is a little known, totally unspoilt and stunningly beautiful part of Spain.
