Not to be confused with Mijas the little village located inland on the Costa del Sol, Mijas Costa is on the coast. Many English people have moved to this area and there are many housing developments that reflect this. With this being the case holiday rentals are extremely popular. The Riviera del Sol Mijas Costa is a real winner with families.  
 
The beach at La Cala is very safe and they offer many watersports including water-skiing and Jet Ski hire. This area is also famous for it’s golf courses, they are some of the best in the world and were designed by top players. 
 
The beach and many restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. Try Riviera Holiday Snack Bar at end of the street run by Paco & Antonio for good value drinks, or Pepe's Bar in Calypso near the Garage for good value food.The beach bar also offers exellent value drinks and food.  
The local restaurants cater for all tastes, Spanish, Italian, Indian, Burger and BBQ, Fish Restaurants. There are both quiet bars and bars with wide screen TV showing sporting events and pool tables. There are also take-away facilities including pizza, roast chicken and chinese. 
 
The Miraflores Golf course is just 3 minutes by car and many others in just a few minutes more. 
 
Miraflores Club House and the Golf Club have dinner and cabaret evenings open to non members as do several other local restaurants. 
 
Marbella and Fuengirola are within 15 mins drive, and 30 mins to Malaga airport. There are also frequent local buses along the coast or a taxi rank near the entrance to the estate. 
 
Organised excursions can be booked from a local office to; Tangiers, Granada, Seville, and Gibralter. 
 
There are Aqua Parks at Fuengirola and Torremolinos, and Tivoli World said to be the biggest theme park on the Costa Del Sol are all within 20 mins drive. 
 
There is regular evening horse racing at the track near La Cala de Mijas (5 mins by car). 
 
Tennis courts can be hired at the Aztec Club only 10 mins walk away.
