The Property
Chez Lesley is a traditional French building on the grand scale with large rooms, flagstone floors and a timeless quality. The first impresion is the amount of space - 4 generous bedrooms as well as a large lounge and a huge kitchen, where you can sit round the woodburner on cooler evenings. The downstairs double room has French windows onto the garden, and the upstairs double is a beautiful, light, bright room with luxury en suite shower room and views across the fields. The upstairs twin room is big enough to hold a dance in!
Our family all queue up to visit each year and guests remark on the delights of the spacious house, traditional features, comfortable accommodation and the sheer joy of waking up to the vista of fields and the perfect peace and quiet! We put in a swimming pool this year (shared with the converted barn on the site) and you can swim or laze around, gazing out on uninterrupted rural views. It can get very hot in summer, but the farmhouse has thick stone walls and shutters to provide a cool retreat.

Le Bouex is a tiny hamlet situated in the commune of Nalliers in the department of The Vienne. Poitiers is the capital of Vienne, just 45 minutes from Le Bouex, and the site of the nearest Airport with flights from England. This region is the second sunniest in France and the landscape varies from rolling countryside to forests, and of course the many rivers criss-crossing the area. This is one of France’s most prolific regions for megaliths and archaeological sites – it is rich in architectural and cultural heritage.
There are many sporting activities (cycling, climbing, riding, canoing etc) and also places for family outings (Futuroscope, the eagles at Chauvigny, Monkey Valley, Snake Island). Re-discover the joys of motoring in this area: traffic is very light – country roads are very good and there are so many beautiful towns and villages to visit. A Benedictine monastery nearby has plainsong services twice a day, and Loche is a wonderful medieval village with castle. You can also visit the Loire to the north of le Bouex, or the Limousin region to the south...and then of course there are the numerous chateaux in the area!
