Exceptional Carcassonne penthouse with private terrace 8 minutes walk from SNCF. Broadband. Private terrace overlooks Roman tile roof tops of the Bastide and the spires of the Cathedral Saint-Michel. 
Two bright even in winter living rooms, a spacious light kitchen and separate laundry. Ski storage and easy parking. Great wardrobe space reading lamps. Thoughtful and comfortably furnished throughout. 
 
The apartment is suitable for couples with children and baby or groups. 
 
Fantastically designed for maximum light and spaciousness. All the windows are double glazed. Air conditioning and electrically controlled blinds and shutters. The kitchen is thoughtfully equipped. A separate laundry houses a washer dryer. Books, magazines and a television are available to guests. There is also a very good broad band connection. 
Just outside the door are Carcassonne’s best markets, delis, restaurants and theatres. The medieval cité with its night life and museums are a short walk away. 
In the winter the people of Carcassonne regularly take to the nearby ski slopes and in the summer to the coast. The apartment has space on the ground floor to store skis. Historical, archaeological and wine destinations are within easy reach. Toulouse, Barcelona, Andorra, Narbonne and the Mediterranean coast are also popular destinations. 
The apartment is less than 10 minutes work from the SNCF train station. Two minutes from the apartment is the bus stop for the Carcassonne airport shuttle. From here are regular departures to Irish cities of Dublin, Shannon, Cork, Belgium’s Brussels and , Liverpool, East Midlands, London in the UK. 1 hour drive from Toulouse Blagnac.

The apartment although in a converted 17th century building has modern comfortable furnishings including electric sky blinds, reversible air-conditioning and a high standard of laundry and kitchen equipment. There are some office facilities including a Canon ink jet printer. A barbecue is on the terrace and down stairs storage for ski equipment.

Location Description

*** The apartment is on the third floor of a large town house situated opposite the Art Nouvelle Mairie and next to the Art Deco Hotel de la Police. It is a short walk from many of Carcassonne’s best and best value eateries museums, theatre, tennis courts 
 
The penthouse is a short pleasant walk to the Medieval City. Here are yet more restaurants of good quality and value with terraces and gardens. There are seasonal concerts of international repute superb jousting and a highly recommended tour of the Medieval city. 
 
A nearby lake a short bus ride from the penthouse has been highly recommended by our guests many times. 
 
Unusually for France there are a number of supermarkets that remain open out of office hours and on Sundays. 
 
Parking is widely available on the Boulevard that surrounds the Bastide. 
 
One minute around the corner is the main square Place Carnot where the Saturday market and other seasonal events are held. 
 
Toulouse and Narbonne are easily reachable for day trips as are coastal beach resorts. If you have a car Carcassonne is perfectly situated to explore the history, landscape and viticulture of the region. The Cathar castles, the black mountains and the pyrenees and the many wine regions on the Languedoc. For information about winter carnivals and other events visit www.languedoc-France.info. 
 
Further up the street are many Baroque and Renaissance buildings. The Halles, Daily market for fish and meat are also on the same street a short walk away along with fresh vegetable shops, delicatessens and bakeries. There are many churches open to visitors and learned societies with exhibitions. 
 
Crossing the main square it is a straight trundle of about five minutes up a pedestrianised street that leads to Carcassonne SNCF train station where one can also embark for trips along the Canal du Midi
