Gite Alexandre is situated in a great wine growing area & is close to many vineyards To the South of Pau you have the wines of Jurançon & to the North of Pau you have the wines of Madarin & Pacherence du Vic Bilh. There are many producers all within easy reach & most domaines are only to pleased to show you around & explain the different grapes & methods they use at the end of the tour they are only to happy for you to sample their wine of which they are very proud 
Chateau de Diusse approx 20mins away Chateau d’Arrica Bordes approx 15mins away are just 2 of the local producers of the Madarin & Pacherence du Vic Bilh 
For those wishing to try the wines of Jurançon its approx 45mins away but well worth a visit & in the village of Gan there is the syndicat of the wines of Jurançon where you can sample the wines of the many producers as the vines are grown over an area of 600 hectares These are just a few as there are to many to mention but don’t take our word for it you will have to come & taste for yourself 
 
Pau Golf club is approx 35mins away an 18 hole course created in 1856 by the architect Willy Dunn it is the oldest in Continental Europe [excluding Britian]a great historic course not to be missed with a couple of drives across the Gave de Pau a good challenge for all PAR 69 5314m & green fees from 40-55 euros  
Blue Green Golf de Pau Artigulouve is approx 35mins away at the foot of the Pyrenees a splendid 18 hole course laid out in natural surroundings with 7 water obstacles & Palm trees to avoid this tight & technically challenging course designed by French champion Jean Garalalde will demand the best of your abilities whatever your level. Every Sunday there is a 4hr beginners course which is free of charge PAR 70 5850m & green fees from 34-45 euros 
Golf du lac de Lourdes is approx 45mins away an 18 hole course created in 1988 it is beautifully situated on the southern bank of the lake of Lourdes & only 4km from the town centre each hole of this woodland course offers magnificent views of the Pyrenees & features a variety of challenges to the golfer who appreciates a technical & physical round PAR 71 5600m green fees from 24-32 euros 
Golf du Tursan approximately 50 mins away, is a 9 hole course on the side of the river with woodlands PAR 35 2809m green fees 17-26 euros[Guideline price only] 
There are many more beautiful courses within easy reach for you to explore & I found a good site for information was www.planetgolf.fr If you have not brought your own clubs then all the courses offer reasonable club hire prices pls note all green fees subject to change 
 
The Pyrenees National Park is spread over 46,000 hectares and represents more than 100km of high mountains separating France and Spain. There are 350km of sign posted trails and offers all the best in walking fantastic scenery good weather and variety for all. If you fancy driving to Laruns approx 1hr 25mins away you will find one of the Pyrenees National Park information centres where they can help and advise you on the type of walk you are looking for should it be taking in the lakes or looking at the flowers or the wildlife a good website for information I found is www.parc-pyrenees.com 
We are approx 1hr 40 from Le Pont d’Espagne where you can see the beautiful waterfalls & only 7kms from Cauterets which also has great walks 
Le Cirque de Gavarine is approx 2hrs away but well worth a visit with 17 summits at more than 3000m sheltering the biggest waterfall of Europe [423m] 
 
Should you wish to explore the local villages and places of interest then we can provide you with walks starting from 2km and going up to 15km so what ever your level there is something for everyone to enjoy 
 
Skiing 
We are ideally placed for Skiing/Snowboarding whatever your level 
Gourette is approx 1hr 20 & the station is at 1400-2400m it has 25 pistes in 90 hectares & has been updated with 16 ski lifts, with an area for beginners a snow park, 150 snow cannons & an altitude restaurant great fun for all 
Artouste-Fabrèges approx 1hr 20 & the station is at1400-2100m opposite the Pic du Midi d’Ossau. Artouste is a small resort with it’s high altitude & village on the banks of lake Fabrège there are 15 pistes set in 150 hectares, snow park & altitude restaurant for those who love snow sports in the depths of nature 
Cauterets is approx 1hr 30 at 1850-2350m & I would say the better known ski resort by us Brits it has 21 pistes snow park & 2 altitude restaurants. 
Le Domaine du Tourmalt Barèges-La Mongie approx 1hr 45 & the different stations start at 1400-2500m & in total it has 69 pistes covering 100km 170 snow cannons     5 altitude restaurants.A good website for information on Skiing/Snowboarding in this area is www.lespyrenees.net 
 
Beaches 
We are 1hr 30 from the Atlantic coast for Biarritz & Hossegor which has great beaches to stroll along & chill out. It is also a great place for surfing. If you are after the Med then Narbonne-Plage is approximately 3hrs 45
