The Property
Luxuriously fitted and commanding some of the best views in the area, Calais View Garden Apartment is a perfect retreat for couples looking for that little bit extra. Enjoy a relaxing rest at home or explore the Garden of England with it's castles, historic towns and picture postcard villages.
For those who like to stay at home, the luxurious well-appointed accommodation offers everthing you need to provide a sumptuous 4 course meal or start your day with breakfast in bed and watch dawn break with glorious sea views that start at the foot of the bed. At night you can see the distant twinkling lights of Calais, watch the world's shipping gently float by or spot a shooting star - all from the comfort of your bed.
The comfortable lounge and patio offers ample seating where those same spectacular views can be enjoyed all year round. We provide a telescope for those who like to get a little closer to the French coastline or study the passing maritime traffic. In the summer months cruise ships anchor off the Bay, you might even spot a seal or two.
The south facing patio is sheltered from the northerly winds and can be a real suntrap, often enjoying temperatures a few degrees warmer than the surrounding area.
The large kitchen/diner is decorated in a cream country style and offers everything you need for a stay at home, gourmet break - herbs and spices included.
We have no doubt you will enjoy a break at Calais View, which has something to offer for everyone. If you are unlucky with the weather, you will no doubt be mesmerised by the wonderful wild seas with glorious grey-green colours and the ferries sheltering off the Bay. Bracing walks are just 200 yards from the doorstep. Return to the comfort of a cosy, warm and welcoming retreat. For those enjoying good weather, the world is your oyster, walks, views, castles, coastal or ragged cliff top walks, superb pubs/restaurants, tea-rooms and France all very close by.

*** Calais View sits in an elevated position in the heart of St Margaret's Bay conservation area. St Margaret's Bay is located at the tail end of the 'Kent Down's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and is surrounded by 'National Trust' land. The Saxon Shore Way, Kent Coastal Trail and Front Line Britain can be joined just 200 yards from the doorstep. The Coastguard Pub/Restaurant with it's growing list of accolades, excellent food, English and foreign beers is only minutes away on foot. Just 300 yards away, you will find the beautiful 6 acre Pines Gardens, where you can picnic and just while away the hours beside the scented garden.
St Margaret's Bay has been described by some as one of England's unspoilt, undiscovered retreats and has in the past been home to Peter Ustinov, Ian Flemming and Noel Coward. Past visitors include the the Royal Family, Harry Roy, Sir John Mills and family, Katherine Hepburn and Hugh Grant, to name but a few. Little has changed to spoil the character and appearance of the area.
The nearby village of St Margaret's at Cliffe has a well stocked village store, several pubs including The Smugglers (the locals' favourite, great menu)and The White Cliff's Hotel/Restaurant, which offers superb food in a luxurious setting.
There are also three character tea-rooms located in St Margaret's Bay offering reasonably priced snacks, scrumptious home-made cakes, pastries and Kentish cream teas.
Historic Canterbury and Sandwich are just 25 minutes away by car and the traditional seaside town of Deal is 4 miles away. There are 3 castles within 4 miles of St Margarets, as well as many other places of historic interest.
A trip to France or Belgium can easilly be enjoyed as Dover Port is 10 minutes away by car.
St Margaret's Bay offers something for everyone....canoeing, windsurfing, prawning, hiking, beachcombing, birdwatching or simply enjoying the delights of the local hostelries.
