*** Le Moulin sits just outside the little village of Issel which is about halfway between Castelnaudary and Revel in the Languedoc Roussillon region of France. The nearest large city is Carcassonne which is approximately 35 mins drive. Toulouse is the next nearest city and is about an hour away. There is easy access to the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees mountain range which are approximately 1 1/2 hours by car and can be reached via the A61 motorway.  
 
More locally are the towns of Revel and Castelnaudary which are about 15 minutes and 10 minutes’ drive away respectively. Both towns provide access to local amenities including restaurants, bars, shops and banks. Castelnaudary of course sits on the Canal du Midi and is famous for its cassoulet; a haricot bean based casserole. 
 
If the Mediterranean is too far for you, there is a beach at the beautiful Lac de St Ferreol which is about 20 minutes drive via Revel. The lake offers many amenities including water sports, crazy golf, the Pierre-Paul Riquet museum, an equestrian centre and lots of restaurants and cafes; many of which look over the lake. 
 
Being located in the Pays de Cathar area of Aude, there are plenty of places of interest that date back to the medieval period; towns steeped in the history of the time. These include St Papoul(the next village along), Saissac, Carcassonne and then a little further afield you can visit Rennes le Chateau, Narbonne and Montsegur. This is in addition to the natural facilities provided by the Mediterranean coastline, the Pyrenees Mountains and the Montagne Noire with its national park. 
 
So plenty to see and lots to do for everyone, no matter what your interests are.
