Torre de La Horadada and its surroundings are a paradise for golf players. There are several world famous championship golf courses, such as Villamartin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, La Marquesa, La Finca and notably La Manga, all within a ten-minute drive. The excellent standard of these courses is proven by frequent visits of The King of Spain. All courses are challenging in their own way, some park like, others with plenty of hazards and those devilish gorges that are typical to golf courses in Spain. Each course is championship length (18 holes), and are less crowded than the ones at Costa del Sol. At Costa Blanca every golfer is sure to find the course of his or her dreams. Even at this moment several new golf courses are being built. The green fees and equipment hire for each course is very reasonable with the recommendation that scheduled rounds are booked in advance. Course maps, prices and guides are available on request from the property owners. 
 
Club Nautico is the home of water sports in Torre de la Horadada. The club has a private harbour, where mooring points can be leased at reasonable rates (maximum draft 3.5m). The Club offers vessel hire, equipment hire and lessons in every discipline of water sports from snorkelling to amateur sea faring. The nearby towns of Torrevieja, San Pedro Pinatar and Cabo Roig feature harbours each of which offer additional mooring facilities (maximum draft 9m). Many of the beaches in the area have water sports facilities, including jet ski, wind surfing, snorkelling and sub aqua schools. Twenty minutes south of Torre de la Horadada lies the unique Mar Menor peninsula. The peninsula is two hundred metres wide with the Mediterranean on one side and the Mar Menor lake on the other. The Mar Menor offers some of the best water sport facilities and conditions in Spain. 
 
Whilst there are no branches of British Banks in Torrevieja many have English speaking staff, take travel cheques, change currency and have cash dispensers that accept all the popular cards including Visa, MasterCard, Switch, Cirrus and Link.  
 
Torrevieja boasts a range of food stores to equal anywhere. The French-owned Continente Hypermarket competes with Mercadona and the Spanish chain Todotodo to supply a vast range of products including an increasing number of British products. Many smaller supermarkets on the various urbanisations in and around Torrevieja specialise in English (and German) products, notably "Tesco" and "Iceland" lines. 
 
There are two water parks within the Costa Blanca region. Benidorm offers Aqualandia and Torrevieja offers Aquapolis. The Aquapolis Water Park is within a ten-minute drive of the Torre de la Horadada. Aquapolis is a good place to visit when the sun is beating down hard. To take a dip in the parks cool pools is the only thing that will lower your temperature. Aquapolis has an entrance fee of approximately 12 euros for adults and 8 euros for children. There are pools guards constantly supervising what goes on, in order to make sure that everything runs smoothly. 
 
Terra Mitica is a Costa Blanca theme park that opened in July 2000. The park is located in the outskirts of Benidorm, which is a forty-five minute drive from Torre de La Horadada. The park is owned and run by Warner Brothers and is suitable for ages of 10 and over. The park is divided into five sections each having a historical theme from ancient Greece through to the Roman Empire. There are two rides that are popular in the park – a wooden roller coaster and a water ride (be warned riders get very wet). The entrance fee for the park is approximately 20 euros for adults and 12 for children. 
 
According to the World Health Organisation, this region has one of the healthiest climates in the world. This is mainly thanks to the salt lakes and surrounding mountains, providing a climate that is reported to be good for easing the pain associated with arthritis and rheumatism. To back this up the region offers approximately 320 days of sunshine, an average yearly temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a very low annual rainfall. In the summertime the days are very hot and it is recommended that the sun be avoided for a few hours around mid-day, and that lots of liquids are consumed In the event of renting a car it is strongly advised that an air conditioning option is selected. In the wintertime the days are pleasant and warm (even for the beach) and is more suited to the enthusiastic golfer.
