The Property

Nestling in rural France, between the market towns of Redon and La Roche Bernard, the well-equipped gite of les Chenes is on the edge of the historic village of Sainte Anne and is part of a traditional Breton farmhouse, with 2 foot thick granite stone walls under a slate roof.

The cottage of les Chenes offers a lovely base to explore from, but with its pretty south facing garden you may just want to stay 'home'. Les Chenes is surrounded by mixed woodland, cider apple orchards and farmland and is 5 minutes from the Vilaine River.

The gite of "Les Chenes" has been renovated using traditional materials where possible, retaining its authentic, rustic French charm along with modern comforts (like a flushing loo). The design, furnishing and equipment has been carefully chosen with your comfort in mind.

Les Chenes is privately owned and available all year for holidays or as a house-hunting base, while you search this beautiful area for a cottage of your own.

Additional Information

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
Brittany is renowned for its fish (particularly sardines, mussels and oysters (all local) but there are a lot of local vegetables and one or two Breton specialities such as cider, "gout" (a Calvados like spirit). It is possible (actually normal) to eat a four course meal at lunchtime with wine for 10 euro per head -

Restaurants

Here are just a few of the local options:-

Frankys - Saint Dolay
Restaurant du Vieux Quartier- La Roche Bernard
Les Copains d’a Bord _ La Roche Bernard(boat)

Supermarkets and Shops

Being self-catering you will no doubt want to eat at home at least some of the time. As well as supermarkets of varying sizes at St Dolay, La Roche Bernard, Rieux and Redon, you will find plenty of local charcuteries, patisseries, boulangeries, boucheries and the odd take away to stop you going hungry.

Markets
Markets are always worth a visit. (Treat yourself to a filled galette from the ‘hotdog’ stall while passing).

MONDAY REDON / QUESTEMBERT / PONT CHATEAU
TUESDAY SAINT NAZAIRE
WEDNESDAY VANNES
THURSDAY LA ROCHE BERNARD
FRIDAY MUZILLAC
