The Property
Our chalet is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of France, the Portes du Soleil which translated means "gateway to the Sun"! There are over 650km of groomed pistes on our doorstep and the free ski bus stops at the end of the drive taking you to the Ardent lift, around five minutes, which gives quick access to the areas of Avoriaz, Chatel and into Switzerland.
The layout of the chalet makes it ideal for family get togethers, large groups of friends or smaller parties. We offer the same warm welcome to all, from 1 to 28! Maybe rent the chalet exclusively for your group of friends, work colleagues or a family reunion.
From the months of December through to the end of April we run the chalet on a catered basis and the rest of the year as a bed and breakfast with the option of an evening meal giving you flexibility to explore all the area has to offer be it sport, sight seeing or just taking in the breathtaking scenery.
Koala's traditional french style chalet has plenty of pine panelling, wooden beams and natural stone with a warm homely atmosphere, tastefully decorated in a modern style whilst complementing the traditional elements.
Our three course evening meal uses fresh local produce where possible and selected wines to compliment, one evening will be a traditional Haute Savoie meal. If there are children in the group we offer an earlier two course meal for your further relaxation.

Notes on Facilities:
We have a splash pool for summer use, 4.6m diameter and also a small paddling pool for younger guests. There are two rooms with tv, DVD, hifi etc, the cosy lounge with open log fire on the first floor and the den in the basement next door to the games room. The chalet is non-smoking and we ask guests to smoke on the balcony or outside in the garden for the consideration of those who do not smoke.
There is also a sauna to help ease those aches and pains after a day's skiing or a day on the mountain walking, hiking or biking. The chalet has safe storage for bikes and wash-down facilities. Plenty of parking space for guests that choose to drive to us and a safe garden for children to build snowmen or snow angels and plenty of outdoor games for summer use.
The chalet has sledges which you are welcome to borrow during your stay.
*** The village of Montriond is situated at 940m at the foot of Avoriaz and one of the 14 resorts in the Portes du Soleil, the worlds largest linked ski resort. Lake Montriond, just a couple of minutes from the chalet is the third largest lake in the Haute Savoie and there are a number of attractions, fishing, canoeing, hiking, ponies and 4x4 for children or in winter ice diving or ski de fond! Further up the road is the start of the mountain biking trails and competitions are held every year in the area. The French open downhill is in June each year and also many road races including the Tour de France which comes to us every three years!
The highlight of the year on the lake is the firework day on either the first or second Saturday in the month of August. There are many attractions throughout the afternoon and evening from dog rescuing on the lake, parapenting, fire eaters and bands playing. When it is dark the fireworks start and the spectacular is set to music with a theme.
Chalet Koala is just 2 km from the bustling market town of Morzine where an open market is held each Wednesday morning but there is everything you could need in our own village of Montriond, a supermarket, bars, hotel, restaurants, doctors, church, tourist office, sports shop and ski hire to name but a few. Morzine has a large open, three swimming pool complex with water slide, ping pong, beach volley ball etc.
The chalet is well situated for touring the area and using us as a base to visit places like Annecy, Yvoire on lake Geneva or Evian and maybe take the ferry over to Lausanne on the Swiss side, Chamonix and Mont Blanc or through the tunnel and into Italy.

Our prices should be used as a guide line as we may have offers on at the time of your booking, especially during the winter season.
The summer prices are for bed and breakfast but we can also offer an evening meal option for an extra supplement and this would be payable in the resort.
The winter price includes accommodation, breakfast, afternoon tea and delicious three course feasts with selected wines and coffee on six nights out of seven stay.
Child discounts if sharing a room with adults and in winter eating the earlier two course supper.
We can arrange transfers from Geneva airport if necessary.
Our family owned and run chalet is set in the most beautiful part of France with breathtaking views that photos make it hard to do justice too, you have to feel and breath it, a borderless ski area spanning over 650 km of groomed pistes, 288 runs and unlimited off piste. The free ski bus stops at the end of our drive and from Ardent you can ski the areas of Avoriaz, Chatel and into Switzerland or in the other direction Morzine, Nyon and Les Gets. Your ski hire can be booked on line and we have a locker so it is not necessary when skiing from Ardent to take you skis home each day. There is something for all, old or young, new or experienced on and off the slopes in winter. One foot in France and the other Switzerland if you choose and no two days will be the same.
In the summer the lifts open, the snow covered mountains become summer meadows with wild flowers and fauns in abundance, in late August or September pick the wild mushrooms - local chemists do a free check on what you have picked, just in case! With lifts open it makes easy access for hiking or biking and there are over 300km or marked bike trails, again spanning France and Switzerland. The lifts open from June till September.
