Situated on The Charente River, is beautiful Cognac with Language Tours of it's Famous Distilleries.
Ancient Saintes with it's Roman Ruins is also on the Charente River, and a river excursion is a wonderful way of spending the afternoon.
The Port of La Rochelle with Boat Trips round Fort Boyard to the Isle D'Aix and the Isle de Re.
Bordeaux & Angouleme both are within easy reach for a day trip and both are wonderful old cities with wonderful architecture and all the ameneties of large cities.
The seaside resorts of Royan, Fouras and the wonderful Isle D'Oleron, and last but by no means least all the wonderful small villages each with it's own special and unique flavour.
There are many things to do: I.e.Golf, Fishing, Visiting the French Markets, Brocantes, Exhibitions, ReEnactments, and all activities that are centred around the Coast and Sea. France is justly, world renowned for it's Food and Drink the Gites are situated in the Cognac & Bordeax Wine Region and there are many wonderful restraunts to sample
