The villa is just a short walk or drive from the village of Üzümlü, which is located on a fertile plateau and is surrounded by imposing mountain ranges. At 500 metres above sea level the summer temperatures are more pleasant and it is not as humid as down by the coast. The heart of the village is its square bordered by a handful shops, a mosque and the all-important tea-house, the quintessential meeting point and hub of all village life. Just a short distance from the villa is the hilltop Roman city of Cadianda dating back to the 5th century B.C. Setting off on foot you will be glad you made the climb (400 meters) of about one and half hours on the long steep track through undiscovered terrain to this ancient Lycian city, (For those less energetic there is a road). As you reach the top you are presented with spectacular views of the Fethiye area, and an opportunity to explore the ruins that are scattered among the pine trees. Fethiye and Calis are just twenty minutes drive away. Oludeniz with its famous lagoon is approx another 15 minutes away.  
In Fethiye you will find bustling shops, a harbour (from here you can get local boat trips as well as the hydro foil to the Greek island of Rhodes), a museum, and the large Tuesday market.  
Calis is the nearest beach to Uzumlu. It is a quiet yet busy holiday resort, with a seemingly endless beach, the shoreline is 6km long and is a significant nesting place for turtles. A good selection of bars and restaurants line the promenade.  
Slightly further away are the ancient ruins and unspoilt 20km beach of Patara and also Salikent Gorge famous for Rafting. 
 
The international airport of Dalaman is approx 45 mins away. We recommend you hire a car, but the local public transport into Fethiye is fairly cheap and regular.
