The Property
Welcome to Casa Ana ...
Throughout the house you’ll see the original ancient chestnut beams and carved doors, with 2ft thick walls of stone and rammed earth, painted white. All the floors have natural terracotta tiles, scattered with rugs. Modern comforts such as underfloor heating and new bathrooms with rain showers have been sensitively incorporated so that Casa Ana retains the look and feel of a very old and beautiful house.
A private entrance from a quiet lane leads through the garden to the courtyard of the Main House.
The Main House at Casa Ana can accommodate up to 4 people in one double and one twin room, both with en suite bathrooms. (If your party consists of 2 couples we can substitute another double room for the twin.) There is the option of renting additional bedrooms and bathrooms for up to 6 more people in the Old Barn and the Old Stables.
All bedrooms have comfortable beds (no sofa-beds!), lamps, fitted bedside tables, cupboards and shelves. The bathrooms are modern, each fitted with a rain shower, handbasin, large mirror and towel rail and decorated with handmade ceramic tiles.
The living/dining room has solid wooden dining furniture and easy chairs with a fridge for cold drinks and shelves for coffees, teas (always provided!), crockery and cutlery. There is a cosy wood burning stove for extra winter comfort (the entire house has underfloor central heating). French doors lead to a private dining terrace with stunning mountain views, equipped with small tables and easy chairs.
The architect-designed kitchen is fully fitted with cupboards made by a local craftsman; it has a Smeg 6-burner gas hob and overhead extractor plus electric fan-assisted oven; a large Bosch fridge-freezer, Bosch dishwasher, professional style double sink, a full selection of kitchenware and plenty of tiled work surfaces, shelves and storage space.

The Alpujarras is a stunningly beautiful mountain area on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada range. It is situated 75 minutes drive south from Granada, and the same distance north from the Mediterranean sea. The area is famous for its white villages clinging precariously to the mountainsides, for its Moorish history, and for its enormous variety of flora and fauna. The area has one of the best climates in Europe and is perfect to visit at any time of year.
Activities: At Casa Ana you can relax and unwind in these peaceful and beautiful surroundings, bask in the sun, read a good book or listen to goat bells and the murmur of the river below the house.
At the house we also offer therapeutic body treatments.
You can go walking, horseriding or mountain biking along the miles and miles of paths that criss-cross the Alpujarras. The area is ideal for painting, photography, butterfly- or bird-watching and many other activities.
You can explore the picturesque local villages with their craft shops, bars and restaurants, steeped in ancient Moorish culture and history. The historic city of Granada with its fabled Alhambra palace and Arab baths is just over an hour’s drive away, and for a day of swimming and basking in the sun the nearest Mediterranean beaches are only 70 minutes drive. The nearest golf course is at Salobrena – also only 70 minutes drive. From November to April the Sierra Nevada mountain ski station is open, a couple of hours away.
Casa Ana is located on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Ferreirola, one of the prettiest and most unspoilt of the Alpujarra white villages. Getting there is straightforward: Granada and Malaga airports are within easy reach, and the road is good.
