Tyrina is situated only 100 yards from the wide sandy beach of Looe Bay and only 50 paces away from the harbourside and fishing port where children spend many happy hours catching crabs. 
 
Activities : Surfing, water sports, fishing, golf, cycling, diving and riding are all within easy reach. The north coast with its rugged cliffs and famous surfing beaches is only about 35 miles away. 
 
Nearby attarctions : The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Tate Gallery St. Ives, St. Michaels Mount, Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station and Bodmin Moor are all within easy reach. 
 
There are many sea trips starting from the harbour ranging from deep sea fishing to leisurely cruises to Fowey and Mevagissey, both nearby picturesque fishing ports. You can go for a trip round Looe Bay and St. Georges Island in a real Cornish lugger. These leave the quay several times a week and include a good lunch. There are also various fishing trips one can take - both short and long. For the keen enthusiast there is shark fishing with the Shark Angling Club.  
 
Just outside Looe is the Monkey Sanctuary and 3 miles along the coast is the unspoilt fishing village of Polperro with its narrow streets and picturesque harbour - a photographer’s dream. You can walk to Polperro along the South West Coastal Path - a lovely walk of about 5 miles, taking in beautiful Talland Bay, From there it is a short bus ride back to Looe. If you want to travel further afield you can catch the train along the Looe Valley Railway to Liskeard or for the more energetic there are some spectactular views walking along the South West Coastal Path or out on Bodmin Moor.
